Fairmont State's Sierra Kotchman was named to the Division II Bulletin All-Freshman Team on Friday morning for her efforts during the 2017-18 season.
Kotchman, the 2018 Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year and second team All-MEC selection, established a new Fairmont State record for scoring as a freshman with 556 points, averaging 18.5 points per outing this season. That total also established a new MEC mark for points as a freshman, as Kotchman ranked fourth in the league in scoring average among all players. Kotchman also ranked third in NCAA Division II in scoring among freshman.
During the season, Kotchman reached double-figures in 27 of 30 games, which includes 16 games of 20 points or more. Kotchman scored a team-high 32 points at West Liberty back on Dec. 9 and also ranked 27th in the country in made three-pointers with 78 this season.
Kotchman was named to the MEC All-Tournament Team in March after leading the Falcons to the MEC semifinals, averaging 20.5 points and eight rebounds in two tournament games in Charleston.
